Venezia seen from the Vaporetto and Bridge

Venezia seen from the Vaporetto and Bridge |  Venezia, Italy |  This morning I woke up and browsing through my Facebook feeder, I saw the pictures of my dear friend Michael in Venezia (Venice). It brought me so many memories from my trip last year to this magical city that I combined with Firenze and Verona, that I decided to write this short post to show you some videos and photos.
I wish I would have been able to stay longer, I only managed to spend a few hours in Venezia on my way to Verona. From the moment you arrive to the Marco Polo Airport and you take the Water Transfers to the center of Venezia, is a whole experience.  I did the whole city in approx. 4 hours crossing bridges, hoping on/off Vaporettos and walking through the alleys and channels, looking at the sexy Gondoliers go by.

Vaporetto is a waterbus operation. It has a set of 19 scheduled lines that serves locales within Venice, Italy, and travel between Venice and nearby islands – Murano and Lido. The waterbus line is operated by Azienda Consorzio Trasporti Veneziano (ACTV), the Venetian public transportation system. It is indeed a cheaper option to sail through Venice, compared to the gondolas.
Save some time in between to try some Spritz and Arancini. This will give you the energy to continue your day. The Spritz (German: “splash” / “sparkling”) is a wine-based cocktail commonly served as an aperitif in northern Italy, especially in the Veneto region and surrounding areas. Arancini or arancine are fried (or, less commonly, baked) rice balls coated with breadcrumbs, said to have originated in Sicily in the 10th century.

Venice is built on an archipelago of 117 islands formed by 177 canals in a shallow lagoon, connected by 409 bridges. The video above shows my view of the Gran Canal from a bridge.
Thank you Michael for transporting me back to Venezia. For more info visit Michael Romei’s Blog . More posts on Italy to come soon. Enjoy. CM
