Gordon Bunshaft’s Lever House, the Modernist Park Avenue masterpiece built in 1951, is today known as the quintessential glass box skyscraper. Casa Lever merges the rich history of modern art and architecture at Lever House with timeless Milanese hospitality, and is destined to become an institution in itself.
My dear friend Michael invited me over to join lunch with him, he has been there many times before for breakfast, what as he said is a great and healthy experience and option. The modern deco of the room with predominant white and red tones, Warhol like pictures and wood… Loved the private boxes and the main room in general. The ambience was very welcoming and quite. which I personally appreciate and enjoy in Manhattan. They offer a very accessible and inexpensive Menu – PRIX FIXE –  of 02 steps for USD 39 x person with classic Italian delights.
Simple elegance is the hallmark of Casa Lever’s menu of perfectly prepared Italian classics. Starter: CARCIOFI thinly sliced artichokes, shaved parmesan, baby arugula.
My absolute favorite italian dish Main Dish: RISOTTO AGLI ASPARAGI parmesan risotto, fresh green asparagus. My friend Michael had a fabulous GNUDI DI SPINACI tender ricotta & spinach dumplings, tomato sauce , ricotta salata. That of course being the foody that I am… I had to try.
Since we could not restrain our gourmet experience to the PRIX FIXE, we went over the norm and asked for a Secondi: SOGLIOLA classic Dover Sole, seared or grilled, dijon mustard sauce ( add USD 15 ). All our meal was matched with great White wine Vermentino delle Colline Lucchesi Sardi Giustiniani ( USD 11 x glass ), Red wine Trimpilin Selvagrossa (2007) Sangiovese ( USD 18 x glass ) and Pellegrino sparkling water.
The sweet touch and to this fantastic lunch was by this Dessert: Hazelnut SEMIFREDDO with Gold leafs and chocolate. ( USD 11 ). With coffee no sugar of course … since we are on the beginning of the Holidays off diet right…
