NAYA Lebanese Restaurant

NAYA Lebanese Restaurant • ( New York City, Midtown ) tonight I tried this great but tiny Lebanese restaurant that my good friend Michael recommended. It is located in the Midtown district and though the venue is very tiny, the space has been used very wisely and the deco is very modern, not what you would expect from a Lebanese restaurant. People on the streets were stopping to check the window display and asking themselves, is this another Japanese restaurant…. well NO, the minute you step into NAYA and you listen to the music and you are welcomed by their waiters you start to live the Lebanese experience.
NAYA (new in Arabic ) a Lebanese-Mediterranean Mezze, a combination of old tradition with new innovation, signature of chef Rafic Nehme.
Starters: Tabboule parsley, mint, bulgur, tomato, onion and lemon dressing (USD 8). Hommus chick pea puree, Lebanese tahini, lemon (USD 6). Baba Ghannouj roasted eggplant puree, Lebanes tahini, lemon (USD 8). Falafel ground Fava beans, chick peas served with vegetables and tahini sauce (USD 7).
Main Courses: Chicken Shish Taouk breast of chicken cubes marinated in lemon and oregano. Served with garlic sauce. Rice and Grilled vegetables (USD 22) and Samke Harra baked striped Bass topped with spicy tahini sauce, walnut and pignoli with rice on the side.
After all these Lebanese delicatessens a digestive MINT Tea with one of the signature desserts of the house, Kanafe bel Jeben sweet cheese baked in crusty semolina topped with sweet syrup and Pistachio dust (USD 8).
