Gramercy Park Hotel Roof Club and Garden | New York, United States | or GPH as Ian Schrager has called it with his signature style and concept of Luxury Boutique Hotel and multi-space with a decadent and very distinctive twist.
The exclusive Roof Club and Garden is located up at the 16th floor offering an indoor and outdoors space . Using artist Julian Schnabel’s vivid color palette of dazzling Renaissance colors, the custom furniture and fittings weave through the space in a breathtaking series of seamless indoor and outdoor areas. It includes a ceiling light installation that evokes the notion of a chandelier in the movie Blade Runner.
The retractable roof, allows guest to better enjoy the outdoors space all year round. A very intimate and selective atmosphere ideal for quite evenings. This Private Roof Club and Garden combines all the charm of London’s private gentlemen’s clubs and the Bohemian bustle of a Viennese coffee house. It recalls the celebrated roof top garden life popularized at the turn of the century in New York City.
A very wide and distinctive selection of drinks, local and international wines and beers. In this occasion I tried the SIZZOU, Campari, Grapefruit and Lemon essence, Strawberry and Cucumber.
For dinner I had Starter: Garden Tomato Salad Buffalo Mozzarella, Basil-infused cream, sourdough crisps (USD 17). Main Course: Oven Roasted Chicken (photo) with Herb Panzanella (USD 24). Dessert: Olive Oil Orange Cake topped with Vanilla Bean Mascarpone (USD 14). The wine selection was a Pinot Noir, Littorai.
Right after dinner we were invited by the Concierge to do a site inspection of the hotel (photo above is the imponent crystal chandelier brought piece by piece from France). The hotel has 185 rooms where some of them face to the iconic Gramercy Park.
To put a great end to this evening, we were invited to join the exclusive ROSE BAR, right at the lobby of the hotel. The Rose Bar is a members only club, and we were lucky to be invited. The crowd was so intimate and exclusive that I was not allowed to take picture of the bar. The design of the bar follows the same concept of all the other areas of this venue. It is all about low lightning, strong combinations of red and blues, exposed light bulbs and the heart of every room…. the fireplace. I would also like to mention their new restaurant, MAIALINO with it own individual access but still part of the Gramercy Park Hotel, signature of Nick Anderer, a Roman-styled trattoria.
