Estancia Las Carreras Tafi del Valle Tucuman | Tucuman, Argentina | Hotel – Restaurant – Cheese Factory. To stop the time and breath deeply. Located in the breathtaking area of Tafi del Valle, approximately 3 hours from Tucuman within the Calchaquies Valley, north of Argentina.
The antique manor was built by the Jesuits around the year 1718, becoming a historical place of Latin America. The stay has been enlarged and recycled to provide the comfort that you are looking for preserving the style of such noble construction.
Tafi del Valle (from the Diaguita slang that means Splendid Entrance) located in the province of Tucuman, and great overnight point for those traveling from San Miguel de Tucuman to Cafayate in Salta. Interesting points close to Tafi del Valle are: Los Molles, Amicha del Valle, Quilmes Ruins among others.
The thematic rooms have been decorated with typical regional weaves, trying to reflect 3 periods of the valley’s history: the first population, the inca and the colonial period. 10 Double and Triple bedrooms.
Some of the activities offered at Estancia Las Carreras are: Trekking, Mountain Bike, Horseback Ridding, Farming and Barnyard activities, Cheese Factory. Also a complete option of tours like Portugues Ravine, Muñoz Gully, Alders Waterfall and Old Fort.
Among the multiple activities offered at Estancia Las Carreras, this is one of my favorite, the Cooking Classes by the expert hands of the chef resident. Using local organic products, the best cheeses and wines of the region, you will be guided through the process of preparing local dishes from the NOA of Argentina. ( NOA = North of Argentina ). (picture of ME at the cooking class).
Old like manhood, the Tafi cheese has the flavors of the peaks, the sun and the winds. After 9 generations, Estancia Las Carreras continues manufacturing cheeses that are marked with the letter “M”. Old techniques from LA MANCHA (techniques use in the Spanish region) brought by the Jesuits 300 years ago. There are 6 varieties: Natural, with Oregano, with Pepper, with Black Pepper, with Papikra and with special Grated Cheese.
