SUCRE with sour taste • Buenos Aires
SUCRE Restaurant Buenos Aires, together with former Bar Uriarte (same gastronomic group, now closed) used to be two classic and safe recommendations for your Buenos Aires epicurian experience…. Well that is no longer the case.
To my surprise Bar Uriarte (Palermo SOHO) has recently closed its doors. As confirmed by our waiter last night at SUCRE. So goodbye to those long diners or brunch seating next to the Mod Oven overlooking the open kitchen and the fun and hip crowd that used to gather around the bar.
SUCRE • What used to be a trendy, upscale option with great food… safe pick or recommendation to friends and clients, has turned into a BIG dissapointment. Slow service, unproffessional, sloppy drinks and regular to mediocre food. Not sure what happened. But after almost a year of not eating there, I can say that my last night experience was not happy, overpriced and frustrating. Still waiting the host to let me know that my friends were seating at the table while I was waiting at the bar, still looking for the starters that never came, sad to see in the chek drinks we never had … becaused as the bartender stated they ran out of the Worcestershire sauce to fix our Bloody Maries…
Sad to learn that those places you use to feel comfortable and welcome, have drastically change while you have been away. Wish them the best, and for sure I look forward to come back if service improves. In the meantime Buenos Aires has lots of old and new options to explore and experience • CM
